Once upon a time, A nation was scrubbed of sins of doing dhina (men with men). The Holy Prophet Loot (عليه السلام) was delivered to this nation by Allah (ﷻ) to stop doing them from dhina. He put the message of Allah (ﷻ) to the people of His nation which was the message of Tawheed and be stopped from dhina. Almost all the people of His nation denied His message and carried on living with their own traditions.
Then, Allah (ﷻ) showed His powers and slide down the whole land and put too much rain on it. And it became a sea instead of land. Now it is an example for all of us to stay on Tawheed otherwise Allah (ﷻ) can do the same with us or can do more dangerous than it.

وَلُوطًا إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِۦٓ أَتَأْتُونَ ٱلْفَـٰحِشَةَ مَا سَبَقَكُم بِهَا مِنْ أَحَدٍۢ مِّنَ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ ٨٠ إِنَّكُمْ لَتَأْتُونَ ٱلرِّجَالَ شَهْوَةًۭ مِّن دُونِ ٱلنِّسَآءِ ۚ بَلْ أَنتُمْ قَوْمٌۭ مُّسْرِفُونَ ٨١ وَمَا كَانَ جَوَابَ قَوْمِهِۦٓ إِلَّآ أَن قَالُوٓا۟ أَخْرِجُوهُم مِّن قَرْيَتِكُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ أُنَاسٌۭ يَتَطَهَّرُونَ ٨٢ فَأَنجَيْنَـٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱمْرَأَتَهُۥ كَانَتْ مِنَ ٱلْغَـٰبِرِينَ ٨٣ وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِم مَّطَرًۭا ۖ فَٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَـٰقِبَةُ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ ٨٤

Translation In English:

And [remember] when Lot scolded [the men of] his people, [saying,] “Do you commit a shameful deed that no man has ever done before? You lust after men instead of women! You are certainly transgressors.” But his people’s only response was to say, “Expel them from your land! They are a people who wish to remain chaste!” So We saved him and his family except for his wife, who was one of the doomed. We poured upon them a rain [of brimstone]. See what was the end of the wicked!
