A Muslim woman or man prays an Istikhara Dua for what he/she plans. To do so, he/she needs to pray a nafl prayer of 2 Rakat known as Salat-ul-Istikhara, then pray Istikhara Dua For Marriage, after that, he/she has to go to bed with that fresh wuzu (do ghusul if possible). In this process from prayer to sleep, he/she must not talk a little bit with anyone. When he/she falls asleep, a sign is delivered in his/her dream by Allah (ﷻ). This sign indicates the approval or rejection of the plan that he/she is thinking to perform.

اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ تَقْدِرُ وَلَا أَقْدِرُ وَتَعْلَمُ وَلَا أَعْلَمُ وَأَنْتَ عَلَّامُالْغُيُوبِ ، فَإِنْ رَأَيْتَ أَنَّ فِي فُلَانَةِ خَيْرَاً لِي فِي دِينِي وَدُنْيَايَ وَآخِرَتِي فَاقْدُرْهَا لِي وَإِنْ كَانَ غَيْرُهَا خَيْرٌ مِنْهَا لِي فِي دِينِي وَآخِرَتِي فَاقْدُرْهَا لِي

Translation In English:

“O Allah (ﷻ), You have powers and I have no powers and You know and I do not know, and You know the condition of the Unseen. Thus if You see that this woman/man (here mention her/his name) is good for me concerning my Deen, world, and Akhirah then make it possible that I marry her/him, and if besides her/him there be another woman/man which is better for me concerning Deen, world, and Akhirah then specify her/his for me”.

What If Do Not Get Any Sign Doing Istikhara Dua For Marriage?

It is not committed that you will get a sign by just doing Istkhara for one time, although it is possible if Allah (ﷻ) wants. But if you do not get any sign in your dream while sleeping by doing the Istikhara in a proper way for the first time, then you should do it again as it is suggested by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ). You will definitely get a sign in your dream if you do Istikhara consistently.
